You are encouraged to complete your application for Retirement forms and send the supporting information to the Retirement Systems office no later than 30 days, and preferably 60-90 days, before their effective date of retirement in order for all of the requisite preliminary work to be accomplished and for the new retiree to be paid in a timely manner. As always, members will receive their retirement payment from the effective date of retirement. However, applications to the Retirement System received with less than 30 day notice may be delayed and not be paid in the month of retirement. No loss of benefits will occur, as all benefits will be paid retroactively to the retirement effective date. The new retiree just may not receive payment during the first month of retirement.
