RALEIGH, NC – Today, the NCAE Great Public Schools Fund is pleased to announce its endorsement of Wesley Harris for State Treasurer. Harris is an experienced state legislator as well as an expert on economics and financial markets. As a public official, Harris has always been a good partner to NCAE and its members, and he will be an excellent steward of our state investments as State Treasurer. “Wesley Harris impressed NCAE members during our candidate meet-n-greets and through our endorsement process with his expertise, experience, and genuine enthusiasm for our public schools,” said NCAE President Tamika Walker Kelly. “While there were other good and qualified candidates, Wesley stood out to our members and we look forward to working alongside him as our next State Treasurer.” Wesley Harris is a three-term state legislator representing Mecklenburg County. As a trained economist with a PhD in Economics from Clemson University, Harris has been a leading advocate and policy expert for economic and financial issues in the NC General Assembly. “I am ecstatic and honored to be endorsed by NCAE,” said Wesley Harris. “As the son of a lifelong public-school teacher and NCAE member, and as a product of NC public schools, there is nothing more important to the future of our state than ensuring our public schools and our educators are taken care of.
