North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children

Every day a child struggles in school simply because they lack something as basic as a pair of eyeglasses, shoes that fit, appropriate clothing, supplies, a hearing aid, or else. The North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children provides for needs that directly impact a child's school experience when no other resource is available. We respond as quickly as possible so the child can be in school and focus on learning.

The NCFPSC provides assistance in several areas. They include the Children's Fund, Disaster Relief, a Relief Fund, and Educators Relief. Each year the Foundation sponsors the Champions for Children Gala and community fundraisers to raise money for its programs. At the beginning of each school year, the Foundation provides school supplies to underserved children through its Back Our Students Drive.

The Teacher Cadet Program is also administered by the Foundation. It is an in-state teacher recruitment and leadership program designed to create a pipeline of students to be the next generation of teachers. The Program began in 1997 and has proven to be successful in increasing student interest in the teaching profession with the long-term focus on “growing our own” teachers.
