NCAE Congratulates Members Appointment to Governor’s Teacher Advisory Committee

Four NCAE Educators Named to Gov. Stein’s New Advisory Panel

Raleigh, NC – During Teacher Appreciation Week, the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) proudly celebrates the formation of Governor Josh Stein’s Teacher Advisory Committee, which includes four outstanding NCAE members:

  • Bobbie Cavnar, South Point High School – Member of the Gaston County Association of Educators.
  • Tamika Farmer, G.W. Carver Elementary School – Member of the Edgecombe County Association of Educators, which recently reached majority membership in the district.
  • Marisha Merchant, White Oak High School – Member of the Onslow County Association of Educators.
  • Elyse Cannon McRae, South Central High School – Member of the Pitt County Association of Educators

“We are proud to have NCAE members serving on Governor Stein’s Teacher Advisory Committee,” said Tamika Walker Kelly, President of NCAE. “Teachers are essential to student success and having educators at the table to help shape public education policy is exactly what our state needs.”

The Teacher Advisory Committee is composed of K–12 educators from across North Carolina who will provide the Governor with insight on key issues affecting students, teachers, and schools. Members of the committee will also serve as Education Ambassadors, collaborating with leaders at all levels to strengthen public education statewide.
