Raleigh, NC - The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) is proud to celebrate the election night victories of several members who ran for public office. These members have long been leaders in their schools and communities and will now bring that leadership and firsthand experience to their elected offices.
NCAE members who won an elected office Tuesday were:
- Christina Gordon, Wake County Board of Education: District 2
- Ronda Mayes, Forsyth County Board of Education: At Large
- Lee Childress, Forsyth County Board of Education: District 2
- Levon Barnes, NC House of Representatives District 64
- Amanda Johnson-Anthony, Town of Rural Hall Town Council
- Steven Gupton, Franklin County Board of Education: District 3
“We could not be prouder of our members, who have advocated for public schools in their classrooms, in their communities, and now will carry that advocacy into elected office," said NCAE President Christina Cole. "These are highly qualified educators who understand firsthand the challenges facing our schools, students, and families. Their experience gives them valuable insight into the policies and investments needed to address those challenges and ensure current and future generations have the opportunity to thrive.”
