Raleigh, NC - The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) is proud to announce the induction of Margaret Alyne Moore Jeffus-Goltare into the North Carolina Education Hall of Fame. Jeffus-Goltare was a dedicated and distinguished educator whose career spanned classrooms and the halls of state government.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Jeffus-Goltare later moved to Greensboro, where she attended Guilford College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). While at UNCG, she received the prestigious Charles Duncan McIver Award—the institution’s highest honor for service—recognizing North Carolinians who have demonstrated exceptionally distinguished public service to the state or the nation.
After graduation, Jeffus-Goltare devoted 30 years to teaching, helping shape the lives of students throughout Greensboro. She later continued her commitment to public education and service as a 10-term member of the North Carolina House of Representatives.
Jeffus-Goltare passed away on August 9, 2025 at the age of 90.

"She was a dedicated educator who had a profound impact during her time inside the classroom and at the state capital.
