The NCAE Board of Directors has an ambitious year-long strategic planning process to engage members, parents, and educators in defining what it is going to take to defend and transform public education in North Carolina. NCAE seeks a temporary project organizing manager/administrative assistant to help drive the development of a multi-year strategic plan.

Project Organizing Manager (Temporary Status) - Governance Special Project

NCAE seeks a temporary project organizing manager/administrative assistant to help drive the development of a multi-year strategic plan. The NCAE Board of Directors has an ambitious year-long strategic planning process to engage members, parents, and educators in defining what it is going to take to defend and transform public education in North Carolina. The project organizing manager/administrative assistant will serve as the central support for officers, governance and staff, create stakeholder engagement tools (including meeting agendas, surveys, etc.), track data, support administrative activities and events throughout the state, and provide leadership to project staff in carrying out and executing activities and events.

This position is confidential. Ability to maintain or synthesize confidential information – including strategic plans/research, personnel, budget and policy draft materials – is required. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and regularly interacts with the Officers of the Union. This position will start in August and minimally go through December 23rd with a possibility of extension through the spring of 2023.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Detailed oriented
  • Passionate advocate for public education
  • Leadership experience, including moving others into action
  • Background in project management and event planning
  • Ability to work with discretion and care in a highly political environment
  • Create and maintain relationships with individuals different from oneself
  • Community or union organizing experience
  • In-depth knowledge of NCAE

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with data and digital communication tools/applications
  • Experience leading and facilitating teams, creating a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Staff or contractor management experience
