Today the North Carolina Association of Educators announced its endorsement of Attorney General Josh Stein in his campaign for governor of North Carolina. NCAE is the state’s largest education advocacy organization for public school employees representing active, retired and student members.

With yesterday’s release of the initial NC House budget proposal, the North Carolina Association of Educators is urging lawmakers to prioritize students and fund North Carolina’s future.

The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) has filed a lawsuit against the Gaston County Board of Education over payroll issues resulting in repeated, ongoing discrepancies in compensation and retirement and other deductions. The complaint names two plaintiffs along with NCAE who are representative of the countless public-school employees who haven’t been receiving the correct compensation for more than a year.

‘Blueprint for Action’ created by PEPSC falls far short of respecting teachers’ expertise, rewarding their time in the profession, offering support throughout their career, and recruiting and retaining educators of color.

Both the NC House & NC Senate have now passed state budget proposals which would cut corporate income taxes but do virtually nothing to address the state Supreme Court rulings meant to help rural school districts which struggle to recruit and retain qualified teachers.

"We are disappointed that both chambers continue to ignore the will of the public to invest the billions of dollars that are currently unspent in the state’s coffers, which could be put to work immediately addressing the needs of our schools. Our students need, and deserve, better.”
